Meteorological and Oceanographic Services

As a result of global warming, understanding and predicting oceanic conditions in respect of wind, waves, tides and currents is becoming increasingly important for those with an interest in coastal assets, such as ports and harbours, as well as those who transport oil and gas, minerals and other industrial raw materials and products by ship.

Meteorological and Oceanographic Services

RPS’ highly qualified professionals in Australia and Europe can offer clients skills ranging across ocean and environmental engineering, electronics, computing and mathematics, numerical modelling, complex data analysis and project management in support of coastal and ocean engineering projects.

In Australia for example, our annual Tropical Cyclone Season forecast offers an insight for planners into the probability and severity of storms, helping to determine the timing of projects or the design of facilities.

In the UK and Ireland, we also have expertise in coastal modelling, including the design and supervision of coastal protection schemes ranging from dune protection using soft upper beach techniques, through beach recharge to hard engineering works such as walls and breakwaters. We can also offer coastal modelling, both strategically and in support of specific schemes.
